Do you love making your nails look beautiful, or are you the person your friends turn to when they need their nails done? If so, turn your passion into a future career by taking our manicure program. Our Union City, New Jersey, beauty school offers a fun and relaxed atmosphere for learning about nail care, including tips, extensions, wraps, gels, nail art, and more. Learn through classroom lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and practical experience. Our dedicated instructors can teach you the skills you need to succeed!

What Manicurist Training Looks Like

If you love to do nails, but you aren’t sure what it’s like to attend beauty school, here’s what you should know. The manicure program at Total Image Beauty Academy is 300 hours, which is what the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling requires. Students complete the program on a part-time basis, either during the day or during evening hours. We offer these two scheduling options:

  • Día de medio tiempo: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, for a total of 16 hours per week
  • Tarde a tiempo parcial: De lunes a jueves, de 6:00 p. m. a 10:00 p. m., con un total de 16 horas a la semana.

Whether you choose the day or evening schedule, you could complete the manicure program in as few as 19 weeks, which is a little less than five months.

The program is split into two parts. During the first half of the program, time is spent in the classroom, listening to lectures, watching demonstrations, and practicing skills on “practice hands.” An experienced instructor carefully evaluates student work to ensure satisfactory progress is being made.

During the second half of the program, students can practice on clients in the student clinic under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. There are more lectures and demonstrations to learn from, as well as a complete review of the theory that has been taught. There may also be practical lessons concerning the business of the beauty industry.

After completing the course, students are then prepared to sit for the State Exam. If they pass, they can receive their manicuring license.

Becoming a manicurist is a big step! We want you to succeed in your career goals, so we provide educational opportunities that prepare you for the professional beauty world. Although we cannot guarantee employment after graduation, we do offer job placement assistance. For example, we maintain a job board that is exclusively for our students and alumni. We also invite local professionals to our school to present skills to our students. You could meet someone who may become part of your future network!

The manicure program is a Spanish-speaking course. We are a Latin beauty school, and we respect your culture. Nurture your creativity in a fun and casual atmosphere while speaking the language you love!

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Manicure Program

¿Cuánto cuesta el programa?

Tuition for the program is $3,876. Books and kit cost $790. Uniforms cost $100. There is also a $100 registration fee. Total cost is $4,866.

Is financial aid available for this course?

While we do offer federal financial aid for some of our programs, it is not available for the manicure program because of the length of the program.

Is the manicure program available in English?

No. At this time, it is only offered as a Spanish-speaking course.

Is this a good program for a creative person?

Yes! Creativity is a very important aspect of training to be a manicurist. While manicuring is both an art and a science, people often want nail services so their hands will look beautiful and unique. Our instructors encourage students to grow in their creativity throughout the course of the program.
